Energy Storage

CAES Larne Planning Application Dec2015

The dramatic increase in the amount of variable renewable energy being connected to power systems presents significant challenges to system operators. Most systems begin to present challenges at penetration levels of 30-40% of variable renewable power.

As wind energy developers we recognise that system operators need responsive energy storage to facilitate the increasing amounts of wind and solar energy being connected to the grid. In 2006, we established our energy storage division to look at the storage technologies that could be deployed and in the intervening period, we have grown our understanding and our team. Regionally, we have progressed significant projects and we have established partnerships with the global leaders in the development and application of storage technologies.
